Can not think of a better way to spend an autumn afternoon than in the company
130 Pedro Pan. family, and friends. Particularly when the occasion was the very
emotional performance of the play Sonia Flew at the Laguna Playhouse this past Sunday October 1,2006.
For many of us, the performance brought us back to the day we left our country
and the myriad of emotions we experienced as we traveled into the unknown. For our children, friends, and relatives, it brought
perspective to a formative experience which is often difficult to articulate.
The informal patio setting for the post performance panel discussion was
perfect, as it allowed the theatre goers to mingle freely and exchange their views on the play.
The panel led by the Honorable Francisco Firmat, and composed of Mercy Fresno,
Estela Bueno, Alicia Ciardullo, Sergio Diaz, Enrique Garcia and Oscar Pichardo, wrapped up the sentiments and reactions to
the play. They also shared their emotions on leaving Cuba
and the personal experiences encountered as Pedro Pans which shaped their lives.
A very pleasant surprise was being joined by all the members of the cast
in the patio for our chat, allowing us to thank them for their very sensitive and powerful portrayal of the Pedro Pan experience.
We have adopted them as honorary Pedro Pan!
Until we meet again!
