Approximately
77 Pedro Pan, with their families and friends, gathered this past Sunday afternoon, March 26 2006, for the much-anticipated
2nd reunion of the Pedro Pan in California held at the Coco Palms Restaurant in Pomona, California.
Besides the good
company, food, and music enjoyed by all; it was a distinct pleasure sharing the afternoon with the two honorees Sergio Diaz
Commanding Officer Special Operation Bureau L.A.P.D; and The Honorable Frank Firmat Judge of the Superior Court of California.
After brief speeches, relating their experiences as Pedro Pans and assimilation into American culture, each was presented
with a certificate of appreciation.
The second highlight
of the reunion was the Pedro Pan introductions. In what has quickly developed into the signature or trademark of our group,
the Pedro Pan joining us for the first time gave a brief personal history. This was also the most emotional part of the reunion
we recalled the difficult experiences shared by many of us. Our efforts bring warmth and comfort to each individual Pedro
Pan
Our heartfelt
appreciation for attending our second event and making this occasion a memorable one.
Until
we meet again!
